WoW Powerleveling Guide. Get to level 80 in a day!

Share

So, you wanna level to level 80 as soon as possible in World of Warcraft? Using RAF (Recruit a friend + Multiboxing Software Pwnboxer) you can boost your own characters to level 80 in less than a day. I’ve used this method for most of my own character. You will need an existing level 90 character to boost your new alts. You can use this method to level without RAF and it still works very well, but having RAF makes it a whole lot quicker.

Before You Start:

Once you have everything you need, head over to the WoW site and log into your account. You will now use RAF to create a new account. Make new e-mails and send RAF invites to them. Once you have your new account, you should get a battle chest for it. You won’t get very far with a trial account, and a battle chest will allow you to level to level 80, if you want to go further you will need to get Cataclysm and MoP as well but you don’t need it for this guide. With a RAF account you will get 3x XP and leveling will be very fast, you can now group with your new character and level quickly. You must however be within 4 levels of the character you are connected with through RAF to get the 3x XP bonus. So you now have 2 choices :

1: Make a new character on the RAF account and a new character on your new account. To get boosted you will need the help of a friend or a guild mate who is already level 90. We won’t be doing this in this guide as i like to do it all myself.

2 : Your second choice is to use your new RAF account that you just created to make another RAF account. This way you can group up all 3 of your accounts and both the new ones will get bonuses to XP and you can use your old account to boost. The 3rd account will also need a battle chest. This might sound expensive but it’s actually not and i will explain why. Battlechests can be gotten pretty cheap these days and with the battlechest you will get a free month. Should you still decide to pay for a month, the account that recruited you will get a free month anyway. I usually discard the 3rd account after i’ve used it to boost characters on the 2nd one, so i won’t be getting a subscription for the 3rd one, just the battlechest. On the WoW website there are sales on expansions and battlechests quite often and you can get a battlechest for only 5 dollars, this is what i did for this guide and only paid 10 dollars in total. (You also get bonus grantable levels that you can “Give” to characters on the account that recruited you, 1 level for every 2 level you level up. So if you level up 2 characters to level 80 on one of the new accounts you will be able to grant 80 levels to a character on your old account.)

Now once you have your accounts set up you are almost ready to go. You can do this without any extra software or hardware but having at least Pwnboxer to help you manage the accounts will make this a lot quicker.

Below i will list what i use to optimize multiboxing on one computer, if you plan on multiboxing i would think about getting these:

1 : Pwnboxer

Mutliboxing software like Pwnboxer will make your life 10 times easier if you plan on playing on more than one account. Pwnboxer is the best and easiest to set up, takes about 2 minutes to get started. It makes it very quick to switch between characters and makes it possible to actually play 2 – 5 characters at once and not just have them on auto follow. Before i got Pwnboxer i would just keep my characters on auto follow and play my main, but now it’s just as easy to use all of them at once. You can easily set up the layout of the screen and set it up so that when you click one button, an action is preformed by all characters. So pressing 1 for example can have one character Taunt, the other character cast a spell and the third one heal.

This is what your screen will look like after setting up Pwnboxer and entering the game.

2 : Hardware

This definitely isn’t needed for multiboxing but it will make it a hell of a lot easier, i multibox up to 5 characters and i know some good hardware definitely makes the job a lot easier.

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard having a good keyboard like the G15 which is optimized for these types of games really does make a difference. The extra buttons really come in handy when having 2,3 or 5 characters to control.

  • A big computer screen or two.Having a big PC screen really helps a lot. I tried multiboxing on my laptop screen and it was almost impossible if you want to have all screens up at the same time. I use two Asus VE278Q 27-Inch screens, having two screen really helps when multiboxing.

Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad I haven’t been using the Nostromo for more than a few weeks but i can tell you for Multiboxers it’s one of the best tools in the box. Extra buttons are always welcomed when playing several accounts at once. Check out our full review here : Razer Nostromo Review.

Remember that you don’t any of the things listed above to multibox or to boost yourself. They are just tools to make it easier if you are serious about multiboxing. But i would at least look into getting Pwnboxer.

WoW Powerleveling Guide:

Once you have set everything up, you are good to go. Log into your 2 new accounts, we won’t be using the old one for the first 10 levels as you can’t enter any instances yet and it’s faster to just use the two new ones.

Join a guild if you can for 10% increased XP and if you have Heirloom items, equip them.

Level 1 – 10

Create your characters and form a group. If you are not of the same race, right click on the portrait in the party window and click summon friend to summon him to you.

Now make a autofollow macro by pressing escape and choosing macros. Then press new and name it Follow or something, In the Enter Macro Command field write /follow and save the macro. Now when you click this while targeting your other character he will autofollow.

For the first 10 levels i don’t bother with quests. Just group up and grind without a high level character present yet. Work your way around a starting zone and you should be level 10 in about 30-40 minutes (might take a bit longer, i had 3 Heirlooms + 10% XP from guild bonus). See the video below if you are unsure about anything.

Level 11 – 21 the Deamines

Now run yor level 90 over to the Deadmines, and form a group with all 3 characters. Use your level 90 to summon you so you don’t have to run all 3 characters there.

Use your AOE skills to boost through the Deadmines, a run should take less than 10 minutes and grant you 1 – 3 levels per run.

When you have killed the last boss, head back to the southwest part of the ship and click the Goblin Teleporter and choose the Wood and lumber option. Go back outside and reset the instance and head back in again. Remember to get all the quests at the end of the instance when you are high enough level.

After about 5 rounds through you will be level 20, and XP will get slower. Do the instance a couple of more times until you are level 21 though, even though it might be slow. At level 21 you can go to Scarlet Halls, there really isn’t anywhere worthwhile to go before that. Just grind out 1 level until level 21, and go to Scarlet Halls and you’ll notice leveling will be fast again.

Level 22 – 30 Scarlet Halls and Scarlet Monastery

At level 21, head over to the Scarlet Monastery with your main and summon your other characters there. You will be doing the Scarlet Halls (right side). The instance is much shorter than the deadmines, only takes about 5 minutes to complete. One run should give you around 1 level. For the part in the beginning where you have to push the target to avoid the archers, make sure to not be on autofollow.

At level 23 you can enter Scarlet Monastery (Left side instance). Switch between the two instances as you like, and make sure to do all quests in both. . At level 26 you can get the quests in Scarlet Halls, these 2 quest award you with enough XP for one whole level each, so you’ll get 3 levels from one run through.

While in SM you will most likely do more than 5 instances in an hour, usually takes 25 minutes to do them 5 times. So remember there’s a cap at 5 per hour so if you can’t enter you will have to log out for a bit or do something else for a while and come back to it after an hour.

Once you are level you should move on.

Level 31 – 39 Uldaman

This is where the fun part of the WoW Powerleveling Guide starts.

Get ready for some of the best XP in the game. If you think 22 – 30 went fast, just wait for 31-39. Uldaman is one of my favorite old instances. It is fairly long and is packed with groups of mobs, so leveling here is very quick. A run through takes about 10 minutes and get award you with up to 3 levels from just one run.

After 2-3 runs you should be level 35, get all the quests in the start of the instance and the disc quests in the room after the last boss for extra XP.

After finishing up all the quests and hitting level 39 it’s time to move on.

Level 40 – 48 Zul’Farrak

At level 39 it’s time to move on to Zul’Farrak. The XP here is almost as good as in Uldaman. The instance should take 10-15 minutes to run and gives you 1 – 3 levels per run.

Be careful during the pyramid event. I usually park my other characters up top and just use my main.

Get the quests at the entrance at level 44.

Once you are level 48, you can  move on.

Level 49 – 57 Blackrock Spire

After Zul’Farrak you will be heading to Blackrock spire and doing both the upper and lower part. The instance is really long, but one run will get you 2-4 levels so you only have to do it about 3 times before you are level 57.

The quests at the entrance are available at level 55.

To get out quickly. Turn off autofollow, have your main go outside the room where the last boss is and drop down to the bridge outside Highlord Omokk’s room and run back to entrance, then summon your other character.

Level 58 – 62 Hellfire Ramparts

At level 57 it’s time to move on to the Burning Crusade instances, the XP here is twice as good so don’t waste any time anymore in old world instances. Level 57 – 60 will take about 10 minutes in the Hellfire Ramparts.

Hellfire Ramparts is a very quick instance in the Hellfire Peninsula. Pre level 60 you will get 1,5 level here and it only takes about 3-5 minutes to complete. When you get to level 60 you will need a lot more XP to level, but you still get about 50% of a level here so stay here until around level 62.

Save all the quests until you are level 60, turning them inn before that is just a waste of XP.

Level  63 – 65 Mana-Tombs

At level 62 you can move on to Mana-Tombs. The experience here is great, and it only takes about 5 minutes to complete. One run gives you almost 1 level.

Get the quests at the entrance at level 64.

After about 3 – 4 runs you should be level 65 and ready to move on.

Level 66 – 68 Sethekk Halls

Sethekk Halls lies right to the east from the Mana-Tombs, a 1 minute walk away. So head right over there and get to level 68.

It is also a short instance. Only thing to look out for is that some mobs in the end will spawn ghost that can attack you but you can’t attack them so don’t let them come to close to your alts.

2-3 runs should take you to 68 and you will be ready to move on to Wrath of the Lich King Instances.

Wrath of the Lich King Leveling

Alright, this is where it starts to slow down a bit. Leveling will still go at decent speed doing dungeon boosts but there are some alternatives that are just as fast or faster.

One alternative is to do PvP. PvP leveling is also very fast with RAF and one Alterac Valley win can award you with a full level at 70 +. This will require you to get Pwnboxer though as you won’t be able to control your characters sufficiently in PvP by switching between them manually.

Your other choice is to do Random Dungeons, these will also give insane XP while using RAF bonuses. This will also require Pwnboxer so that you can control all your characters and not wiping.

Another choice is to level the old fashion way of doing quests. Questing in WOTLK while having RAF bonuses are extremely fast

The best method is doing either PvP or Random Dungeons, and questing while waiting for Queues. This is also how you will be leveling at 80+ so it can be smart to get used to Multiboxing properly now.

If you want to quest i would also recommend getting Dynasty Addons. as leveling time usually is cut in half by having an in-game auto updating guide.

If you still want to boost to 80, there are some viable choices for you that i will list below.

Level 69-72 Utgarde Keep

You will notice leveling taking longer right about now and especially at level 70. A level still shouldn’t take more than 20 – 30 minutes.

Utgarde Keep should take you to level 72. The quests at the entrance is available straight away so get them at once.

Around 4-5 runs should get you to level 72.

Level 73-76 Drak’Tharon Keep

At level 72 you can head over to the Grizzly Hills and enter Drak’Tharon Keep

The quests here should be available to you when you get here so pick them up.

At level 76 you are ready to move on to your last dungeon boosting instance.

Level 76-80 Halls of Stone

This is the last instance you will need to hit up. Not much to say, just grind it out here until you are level 80

Congrats on hitting 80! If you want to continue leveling now you will have to do it the old fashioned way. Getting Dynasty Addons. for questing is almost and essential now and getting Pwnboxer so that you can control both your characters properly.

Remember to use all your grantable levels aswell.

Brilliant guide !! I have over 8 alts I will be leveling this way, thanks so very much 🙂
One little question though, would I need a seperate WoW install for every account, or can they all share one install ?
Forgive me if I’m being a little dense here, but I actually don’t know the answer !

Great job on guide pal, I’d say top notch, it can be tweeked a little but changes would be minor. I did with monk tank and crane spined all the way trough entire continent dungeons really fast indeed best thing about it that your characters not die when on follow, and it allows me run with no stopping

Is incorrect you can not get into the dungeon if you are not 58. and to cross the portal you need to summon from the otehr side as walking thru does not work either

Most likely because your not playing 2 characters at once utilizing the Recruit a Friend Bonus. This guide is intended only for people using the Recruit a friend bonus.

I would recommend using isboxer now as pwnboxer is no longer developed or supported. This method is still realy fun and even if you get 5 accounts you can run dungeons yourself. I 5 box and its really fun.

    • Yeah Isboxer is definitely a better choice! We are working on updating our guides right now so this guide will also get an overhaul as it is 2 years old at the moment.
