Beginner’s Guide to New World

Welcome to New World, an open-world MMORPG set in the mysterious land of Aeternum. As a new adventurer, there is a lot to learn about this vast, magical world.

This beginner’s guide will cover essential topics to help you get started on your journey. Let’s dive in!

Picking a Weapon

New World Weapons

Your weapon choice is crucial, as it defines your playstyle and combat tactics. Experiment with different weapons to find one that suits you best.

There are several weapon types, including Swords, Bows, Maces, and Magic Staffs, each with their unique abilities and skill trees, which can be combined for many different build variations.

You can switch weapons at any time and level up multiple weapons for added versatility.

Attributes

New World Attributes

Attributes are the foundation of your character’s power. They are divided into five categories: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Focus, and Constitution.

As you level up, you will earn attribute points that can be distributed to improve your character’s overall performance in combat, crafting, and gathering.

Tradeskills

New World Tradeskills

Tradeskills encompass crafting, refining, and gathering skills. As you progress, you will be able to create weapons, armor, consumables, and gather resources to maintain your gear and sell to other players.

Some popular tradeskills include Mining, Fishing, Cooking, Armorsmithing, and Weaponsmithing.

Resources and Gathering

Aeternum is rich with resources like wood, stone, ore, and plants. Gathering resources is essential for crafting and refining. Equip the appropriate tool (e.g., pickaxe, logging axe, or sickle) and interact with resource nodes to collect materials.

Water and Consumables

Water is essential for crafting consumables like food and potions. You can gather water from rivers, lakes, or wells in settlements. Consumables provide various benefits, such as health regeneration, buffs, and debuffs.

You can also equip Water and use it to regain a small amount of health, which can be very useful for new players.

Factions

New World Factions

Upon reaching level 10, you will need to choose a faction: Marauders, Syndicate, or Covenant. Each faction has unique objectives, gear, and quests. Factions compete for territory control, influence, and resources in a dynamic PvP environment.

Settlements and Towns

New World Settlements

Settlements are player-controlled towns that offer crafting stations, vendors, and quest hubs. Each settlement has a unique layout, and their facilities can be upgraded through town projects. Settlements also serve as respawn points when you die and as hubs for fast travel.

PvP and PvP Flagging

New World PvP

PvP (Player vs. Player) combat is an integral part of New World. Upon reaching level 10 and joining a faction, you can enable PvP by flagging yourself in a settlement.

Engaging in PvP rewards you with experience, gear, and influence over territories.

Leveling

Gain experience points by completing quests, killing monsters, crafting, gathering, and participating in PvP. As you level up, you’ll earn attribute points, skill points for weapon mastery, and unlock new abilities.

Quests and Town Project Boards

New World Town Project

Quests are the primary means of gaining experience, rewards, and advancing the story. There are main story quests, side quests, and faction quests.

Town Project Boards offer additional tasks to improve settlements, rewarding you with experience, coins, and reputation. These provide new players with very a lot of XP and rewards.

Coins, Trading Post, and Buy/Sell Orders

Buy Order New World

Coins are the primary currency in New World, used for purchasing items, trading, and maintaining your house.

The Trading Post serves as the player-driven marketplace where you can buy and sell items with other players.

Buy orders allow you to set a desired price for an item, and if a seller matches your price, the transaction will be completed automatically.

Houses

New World Houses

Once you reach level 20 and have enough reputation with a settlement, you can purchase a house. Houses offer fast travel points, storage, and trophies that provide buffs to your character.

You will get a 50% discount on your first house so buying the cheapest house isn’t always the best choice. Instead saving for a more expensive house will give you a higher discount.

Salvaging and Repairing

As you play, your gear will take damage and require repair. Repair parts can be obtained by salvaging unwanted gear. To repair your gear, open your inventory and click on the damaged item, then select “Repair.”

Azoth and Fast Travel

Fast Travel New World

Azoth is a valuable resource used for fast travel, crafting, and refining. Earn Azoth by completing quests, participating in events, or salvaging items with Azoth extraction.

Use Azoth to fast travel between settlements and shrines. You can also fast travel to your house.

Bags and Inventory Management

Bags are essential for carrying items and resources. As you progress, you can obtain larger bags with more inventory space. Keep an eye on your inventory weight, as exceeding the limit will slow your movement and prevent fast travel.

In-Game Store

The in-game store offers cosmetic items, account services, and convenience items like storage expansions. It uses a premium currency called “Marks of Fortune,” which can be purchased with real money. Note that the in-game store does not offer any pay-to-win items.

With this beginner’s guide, you are now equipped with the knowledge to embark on your journey in New World. Remember, the key to success is exploration, cooperation, and adaptability. Forge alliances, conquer territories, and uncover the secrets of Aeternum. Good luck, adventurer!
