Getting Started in ArcheAge
Fresh Start and Private Servers:
ArcheAge occasionally introduces Fresh Start servers. These servers provide an opportunity for players to experience the game from the beginning, free from high-level characters and pre-established economies. It’s a chance for new and returning players to immerse themselves in a balanced and fresh gaming environment.
On the other hand, private servers for ArcheAge also exist but are not officially endorsed or managed by XL Games or Gamigo, the game’s developers and publishers. Playing on a private server might breach the game’s terms of service and result in penalties. These servers might also suffer from unbalanced gameplay, lack of server stability, and potential data loss.
The Class System and Choosing a Class:
The class system in ArcheAge is one of its defining features. Unlike most MMOs, your character’s class is determined by the combination of three out of twelve available skillsets. With over 220 possible combinations, this system provides a stunning level of customization and complexity to combat.
See our ArcheAge Solo Class Guide for tips on some strong combos.
Currencies:
ArcheAge operates with several currencies. Gold is the primary currency used for most transactions in the game. However, there are other types of currencies used for specific purposes, like Gilda Stars for special items, Labor Points for crafting and gathering, and Honor Points for PvP rewards.
See our ArcheAge Gold Guide for tips on how to make gold.
Housing:
The housing system in ArcheAge is highly comprehensive. Players can purchase land, build homes, and customize them extensively. However, housing is not just for aesthetics – farms and crafting stations can also be placed on your land, making it a valuable resource for crafting and trading.
Quests:
Quests in ArcheAge serve as both a source of experience points and an introduction to the game’s lore. They’re categorized into storyline quests (marked by green exclamation marks) and side quests (yellow exclamation marks).
Crafting and Trading:
Crafting and trading are integral to the ArcheAge experience. Players can master various crafting skills to create a wide range of items, from weapons and armor to ships and furniture. Trading, in turn, is a lucrative way to earn gold by selling crafted goods and trade packs to other players.
PvP:
Player-versus-player (PvP) combat is a core element of ArcheAge. In contested zones, guilds and alliances often battle for control over resources and territories. There’s also the fascinating Crime system, where players can commit crimes like theft or murder against their peers, leading to trials and potential imprisonment.
FAQ
1. What’s the difference between ArcheAge and ArcheAge: Unchained? ArcheAge: Unchained is a separate version of the game that was released in 2019. While it offers the same gameplay as the original ArcheAge, it operates on a buy-to-play model with no subscription fees. Also, ArcheAge: Unchained removes the elements of “pay-to-win” from its monetization model, striving to provide a more balanced gaming experience for all players.
