1. Understanding the Core Philosophy

Pantheon is built around teamwork and group-centric gameplay. While you can play solo, the game truly shines when you form groups to tackle challenges. Here’s what to expect:

  • Slower Progression: Compared to many modern MMOs, progression in Pantheon is slower but more meaningful. Every achievement feels significant.
  • Immersive Experience: The game encourages you to take your time, explore, and engage deeply with the world.

2. Starting Your First Quest

  • Scavenger Quest: In your inventory, right-click the Mysterious Letter to start the Scavenger Quest.
  • Where to Go: Head to downtown Alia and find the scavenger by the well. He’ll offer quests to earn your first set of harvesting tools and even help you upgrade them later.

3. Finding Quests

  • No Exclamation Marks: Unlike many MMOs, NPCs in Terminus don’t have exclamation marks (!) above their heads. Talk to NPCs to discover quests and unlock storylines.

4. Choosing Professions

Professions are a big part of Pantheon, but choose wisely:

  • Profession Tokens:
    • You’ll receive two Profession Tokens early on. These are permanent, so pick professions that align with your long-term goals.
  • Crafting vs. Gathering:
    • Early crafted gear becomes obsolete quickly as you level up. Focus on Gathering Professions (like Mining, Skinning, or Woodcutting) to earn money and resources.

5. Managing Your Inventory

Inventory management is crucial in Pantheon:

  • Bags:
    • Prioritize buying bags from vendors or players to increase your inventory space.
  • Crafting Inventory:
    • Use the Secondary Crafting Inventory for schematics and tools. This frees up space in your main inventory for resources and loot.

6. Navigating Without a Map

One of the most challenging aspects of Pantheon is the lack of an in-game map. Here’s how to cope:

  • Landmarks:
    • Familiarize yourself with key landmarks like the well, docks, and crossroads. These will help you orient yourself.
  • Community Maps:
    • Use Community-Driven Interactive Maps (linked in the video description). These maps show NPCs, mobs, landmarks, and more, making navigation much easier.

7. Memorizing Your Spells

  • Unlock Abilities: Abilities aren’t automatically given. You’ll need to talk with your class trainer.
  • How to Memorize Spells: Right-click on each spell in your spellbook (press B to open it).
  • Assigning Spells: Right-click any spell in your spellbook to assign it to your ability bars. This is crucial for quick access during combat or support situations.

8. Combat and Support Basics

  • Target Bars: You have two target bars:
    • Defensive Target Bar (Blue): For healing, buffs, and support spells on allies.
    • Offensive Target Bar (Red): For targeting enemies.
  • Quick Targeting: Use F1 through F6 to quickly target party members during combat.
  • Corpse Retrieval:
  • If you die, your corpse will remain in the world with all your loot. You can either run back to it or hire a Summoner or Necromancer to retrieve it. Remember to tip!

9. Targeting and “Conning” Mobs

  • Conning Mobs: Use the “con” system to check if a mob is friendly or aggressive. It also reveals how the mob detects you (sight, sound, or smell).
  • Mob Difficulty Colors:
    • Gray: No experience, safe to ignore.
    • Light Blue: Yields experience, but less than higher colors.
    • Blue: More experience than light blue.
    • White: Even match, expect a fair fight.
    • Yellow: Tough, be cautious.
    • Orange: Very hard, challenging to defeat.
    • Red: Avoid unless you’re well-prepared.
  • Tougher Enemies: Chevron mobs are significantly stronger than regular enemies. Only engage them if you’re in a well-prepared group.

10. Surviving the Night

  • Torch Equipping: Nights in Terminus are very dark. Equip your torch (you start with one in your inventory) to navigate safely.

11. Managing Hunger and Thirst

  • Survival Mechanics: Keep an eye on your hunger and thirst bars. Top them off with food and drink.
  • Crafting: Players can create food and drinks with stat-boosting effects, so gather resources and experiment with crafting.

12. Performance Optimization

The game is still in development, so performance can be hit or miss. Here’s how to get the best experience:

  • Graphics Quality:
    • Set Graphics Quality to Medium. The visual difference between Medium and High is minimal, but the performance boost is significant.
  • VSync:
    • Enable VSync to reduce screen tearing and improve smoothness.
  • Resolution:
    • Use your monitor’s native resolution for the best visual experience.
